High voltage switchgear selection points explained
Mar 26, 2022
High voltage switchgear refers to the equipment used for power system power generation, transmission, distribution, electric energy conversion and consumption to play the role of on-off, control or protection. High voltage switchgear is also called high voltage distribution cabinet. Common 35kV high voltage switchgear and 10kV high and low voltage distribution cabinet. It is mainly used for complete sets of electrical related cabinet equipment in power facilities.
The main purpose of high voltage switchgear is to switch circuit, control circuit and protection circuit when power transmission, distribution and power conversion are carried out in the operation process of power equipment. The main core components of high voltage switchgear are high voltage circuit breaker and disconnecting switch.
In order to ensure the safety of high-voltage electrical components in high-voltage switchgear under normal operation, maintenance, short circuit and over-voltage conditions, high-voltage switchgear should be selected according to the following conditions:
(1) Select according to environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, altitude, earthquake intensity, etc.;
(2) according to normal working conditions including voltage, current, frequency, mechanical load selection;
(3) Select according to short circuit conditions including short-time tolerance current, peak tolerance current, rated short-circuit closing and breaking current, etc.;
(4) Select according to over-voltage capacity including insulation level;
(5) According to the different characteristics of various high voltage appliances, including the operating performance of switches, the protection characteristics of fuses, the load and accuracy of transformers, etc.
